I am very big on vision and dreams ever since I understood its importance in doing anything significant or living a fulfilled life.
Vision gives direction to a person or an organisation in terms of where they want to be after a set period of time.
If you are going to make 2014 your best year ever, that will only happen if you are working in the direction of your dreams. The course of your life has to be set and that is how you can be able to measure your progress.
Your vision isn’t your goal. It is what you truly expect and believe you are and should be. It is the identity you have created for yourself. – Matt Morris
You set a vision by creating a picture of yourself in that place you want to be, living the lifestyle you desire, earning the income you desire. This is a picture that is set indelibly in your heart. You have to think it like you are already there. You must first feel the excitement of that achievement before it will come to you. You must experience success mentally before it becomes a reality. But what happens is that every time you dwell in that vision, you come out with supernatural energy and drive to make it happen. To attain a desired level of success, you must first become the person that can attract that kind of success. You become that person by experiencing the emotions in the vision.
Setting your Vision
Once the vision is set, you then outline goals with specific time frames to bring the vision to reality.
A vision is pretty easy to create and attain when you:
–Have a very big dream.
My mentor says to have a ‘Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal!’ If your dream isn’t big enough, you may not be able to generate enough excitement and energy to make it happen. If you are an athlete, your vision should not be about winning the local championship, it should be to win the Olympics.
– Commit to Personal Development.
Once the direction is set, all you need to do is to ensure you become at least a little better each day than you were the previous day. Even if you are the slowest person in the team, as long as you stick to the vision, and you get a little better each day; with consistency, you will eventually arrive at your goal.
Realize that there is no need for a vision if you haven’t DECIDED to WIN, to live a life of significance and fulfilment. Vision-oriented people are high-achievers; they are the drivers of innovation, the pace setters and record breakers. It all happens once you decide to WIN and Win at a very high level.
Nothing happens until you DECIDE TO WIN!
So Decide that 2014 will be your best year ever, get your vision in place and run towards it. By December, you will be amazed at how much closer you are to your dreams.
