How you can have more than 24 hours a day!

September 27th 2012, I made a decision that started out a turn of events that has changed the course of my future forever.

I wasn’t an average student in school, I was good. I had great talent and was very involved in leadership and humanitarian/ religious societies. The thing was I didn’t know what I now know and I feel so blessed to have come into contact with the people who opened my eyes to what leverage REALLY meant.

I mean, I was going to leave school with my master’s degree, go work for a couple of years in an architectural practice and work towards getting my Architect’s license and then go back to work again for a higher salary. On the side, I was going to be an entrepreneur, working my Web Design business for extra income and for the fun of it. I was going to do all that; but I had one greater desire than “success in life”. I wanted to be free, and I wanted it NOW.

Not when I’m sixty-five, I wanted to live my life now when I have the strength to enjoy it. I wanted to have the choices of what to do, when to do them, for how long to do them and with whom to do them and that was my biggest desire, over the desire to be rich.

The blessing was my realization of what Leverage meant. I could define it but I never really grasped the extent of its power.

Some definitions I found online are:

In the physical sense, leverage is an assisted advantage. As a verb, to leverage means to gain an advantage through the use of a tool. For example, you can more easily lift a heavy object with a lever than you can lift it unaided.       – whatis.com

The ability to influence a system, or an environment, in a way that multiplies the outcome of one’s efforts without a corresponding increase in the consumption of resources. In other words, leverage is the advantageous condition of having a relatively small amount of cost yield a relatively high level of returns. – Businessdictionary.com

In my own words,

Leverage is anything that makes you get the job done faster and easier.

The computer is a great form of leverage. Cars and planes help us travel faster and easier; mobile phones help communication, and so on. I understood this kind of leverage, but what totally jacked me what when I realised its true power and what it could mean for me in life.

PEOPLE – Duplicating yourself

The greatest form of leverage is People leverage – the leverage on people’s efforts. I always knew about division of labour and what it meant in terms of efficiency of work and speed, that’s a form of leverage. But when I realised the true power of people leverage, in a split second, I totally had a mental shift in the way to go about things.

Consider this thought by John Paul Getty, an Oil Billionaire. Read this out loud slowly:

I’d rather have 1% of the efforts of 100 men than 100% of my own effort

Oh my God! Did you catch that? I permit you to stop for a minute and re-read that. Here’s what I learnt from that.

Simple math: 100% of my effort = 1% of the efforts of 100 people. Bingo!!

Every living soul on the face of the earth has the same 24 hours each day. It’s the same for you and I where you agree or not…lol. But there’s only so much we can do individually within 24 hours.

So what do we usually do?

We increase our potential; bag more degrees and certificates from courses and we become a little more productive than before, and after a while we repeat that again and you see, what happens is that we are so highly skilled and work ever so harder and efficiently to achieve our dreams, but we’ll be working harder because with greater power comes greater responsibility and the more skill we develop, the more work we can do and so we are not getting much freer as time goes, we’re getting much more busier instead.

But wait a minute, what if I use the concept of leverage (what I personally consider a miracle), and get 24 people to give me 1 hour of their 24 hours, then I would have replaced my 24 hours of productivity (that’s even if I can work a full 24 hours in the first place) and still have my personal 24 hours to do whatever.

But hold on, what if instead of getting 24 people, I get 48 people? Then I can just get 30 minutes of their time every day. What if its 96 people, I’ll just need 15 minutes?

Light bulb

This is the power guys. If I went out and got 200 people, the time they would need to give me would be down to about 7 minutes.

Can you see this?

Well that’s if I want to reproduce just 24 hours. What if I keep getting more people to give me 1 hour of their time every day? 200 people would mean 200 hours in a day. And voila!! That’s the magic.

There are people who have thousands of hours a day in productivity because of this idea. This is the power of the rich. LEVERAGE!

Leverage is the only thing that can give you true freedom in life. I saw this concept and then I found the perfect financial vehicle that can make me achieve this and END OF STORY! I’m going to be retired before the age of 30. My life is set. This is what excites me so much that I lose sleep. If you’re wondering if all these can translate into a stable financial future, I’ve made lots of friends who do not work a single day again because of this idea. It’s another world entirely when you wake up to pursue your own dreams and not fulfil the dreams of someone else.

I hope this article helped give you a glimpse of how the future can be if we make the right decisions and take the right actions.

I live by this quote. “I will do today what other people won’t, so that I can have tomorrow what others can’t”

do it today

I’m open to comments, for discussion on this matter and if you want to know about how I’m helping a lot of people create the future they desire, feel free to contact me.

Zig Ziglar said, “You’ll get what you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want in life”.

That’s my two cents this morning.

Have a great day!
