Iillusion of difference - handshake was really on to this particular presentation and I was dead sure Chuks was going to sign up . . .

I did the Invitation smoothly, set the appointment, did the 3-step setup perfectly and pushed play on the presentation video. .

Everything was perfect until he said, ‘Err.. Adeposi, this is a really brilliant idea and I really love it but I don’t think it would work for me . . .at least not now’. .

I was deflated!!

What did he mean? Couldn’t he see this was working for me already and all he needed was to follow the system and do exactly what I was doing to get the same results?

Well, the truth is Chuks couldn’t see it. And so many other people as well.

After recovering from my disappointment, and realizing this is a problem that plagues so many people in life and business.

The Illusion of Difference

Have You ever heard Network Marketing Objections like:

  • Lagosians [Insert your city here] are very skeptical people. I need to show them proof before they believe.
  • This is a nice idea but I don’t think it can work here.
  • Nigerian’s don’t travel. [Whereas Muritala Muhammed Intl Airport is jam-packed with travelers 24-7]
  • I have a full time job and the kids to take care of. I won’t have the time. [Can’t you see I’m showing you how you can earn your time back]
  • I’m over-stressed right now with my business. I can’t take on another stress. [like seriously? I’m talking about how you cut down stress in your life]

Some people will even give the silliest excuse just to find a way to opt out of the opportunity:

‘oh, the full moon came out today, I can’t make life changing decisions when the full moon is out’

The illusion of difference is when we feel what we are experiencing is different from what every other person is going through. We sabotage ourselves so many times by thinking our situation is peculiar and we need a special intervention before we can succeed at a particular thing.

No, you don’t. If you really look at it, we are not all that different after all.

Watch the video below to see how you can deal with self-sabotage and the illusion of difference!

[Sorry for the low quality. I had to keep it as the message is so profound and will help you]

Dealing with Self-Sabotage

What you need is a Mindset-Shift! And this is why events are great because you get to hear other people’s stories and realize that a lot of people are actually creating success in similar situations like you are, or even worse.

Attending events will help you development the mindset of ‘If this guy can create success while juggling a full-time day job and a part time night shift, why can’t I?’

The truth is everyone is busy, no one has the time, everyone has family calling, commitments at work and church . . .

we all face the same traffic congestion, bills to pay, economic problems, global meltdown, bla bla  .  .

The question is will you use these challenges as excuses to fail in life or will you use them as reasons to succeed?

Successful people are not those without challenges, they are actually people who decided to create success despite the unique challenges they were facing.

Decide today to create success in your life and business despite. . .[insert whatever challenge you think you are facing here].
